Test ride of the new discover 100cc 5 speed

From the day of hearing about bajaj`s new bike discover 100cc speed i was eager to ride it .I wondered what it would turn out to mesh a five speed gear box to a hundred cc engine. In fact it is the first 100cc bike to have a five gear box.

I went to a near by bajaj show room and asked for discover 100 cc dts-si five speed. The looks of the bike is very ordinary (just like the old discover). The bike they gave me was black discover. It instantly can to life when i pushed the ignition button,the sound was the familiar sound. Its gear box is a five down gear box.In the first gear the acceleration didnt disappointed me it had ample pick up for a 100cc engine. The riding position was also great, unlike the other bikes in its class i had a upright position(im five foot eleven and 95 kilos). Riding position is good enough to go for a 50km long ride but not more than that. It is because it weight is only 105 kilos and its lacks the smoothness in fifth gear. The handling is good but not expectational.I was able to easily handle the bike while taking u turns. The mileage claimed by the company is 91km/litr , im quite sure that we ca get 70+ even in harsh condition.

According to my opinion this bike is not a performance bike, its a work horse (a daily commuter) . It is not for the biker type people but its for the working class people. In highways it will do better than other bikes because of its fifth gear (dont compare it with cruisers ).
