Indian car users mostly look for the upcoming hatchbacks and the very first day of 2010 auto expo was the day of hatchback cars. There were three hatchbacks for India in the 2010 auto expo and they were Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etios and Honda’s concept car. Volkswagen Polo though was an expected car it did not give any surprise as it was published in the internet long back.

On the other hand, the Volkswagen Polo will be launched soon whereas the Etios and the concept car of Honda will be launched only next year. Honda aims to produce the car in India and export to the other markets abroad. Honda’s hatchback is an all stylish and spacious one too. It has a great leg room and has world class luxury and comfort as well. The upcoming Honda hatch back price will probably be below Rs. 5 lakhs.

Toyota Etios also has similar features including the price of Toyota Etios as all these upcoming cars for India will have to compete with Volkswagen Polo. This will be launched in 2010 itself and it is quiet bigger than the usual size of hatch backs in India. The Etios sedan model was also show cased in the Auto Expo 2010. The sedan Etios variant is to have 1.5 litre engine and the Etios hatch back will come with a 1.2 litre engine.

Auto Expo 2010 says that Volkswagen Polo will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The three variants of the petrol and diesel Polo are named as Trend line, Comfort line and High line.

Toyota Etios

January 5th, 2010 by Tinku | No Comments | Filed in Auto Expo, Cars

Toyota finally unveiled the most expected Toyota hatchback Etios compact car. 2000 engineers over a period of 4 years worked hard behind the production and realization of the new Toyota Etios. The upcoming Etios is specially created for the Indian road and market.

The Toyota company in India is a joint venture with Kirloskar Group and is investing about Rs 3,200 crore (Rs 32 billion) to set up its second manufacturing facility in Bangalore in order to launch Toyota Etios car by early 2011. This is the production plans as scheduled by the company. The stylish Etios aims to provide high quality, comfort, great mileage and a cheap price too.

The company knows that Indian automotive market has craze for both hatchbacks and sedans. Therefore, Toyota Etios will be launched in the both variants of hatchback and sedan with 1.2 litres and 1.5 litres petrol engines respectively.

Toyota aims at selling 70,000 units in the first year so that the Toyota customers can get access to the world-class quality standards of Toyota. Etios will be the main bullet of Toyota in the Auto Expo 2010. The concept car Etios in 2010 Auto Expo will catch the attention of many.

Keeping in mind the automotive customers of India, Etios will come with two engine options. And one is 1.4-liter diesel engine a 1.2- or 1.3-liter petrol engine. Toyota may even downsize the engine to 1,200cc to meet India’s small-car regulations. As the Toyota Etios price in India will be less comparatively, it will be a great threat to the Indian car Maruti Suzuki Swift. Volkswagen Polo’s launch in 2010 early was a headache for Swift and now the upcoming Etio will not allow the engineers of Maruti to have a peaceful sleep as they all have to do something to bring down the production cost of it.

Volkswagen UP Price and Release date in India

January 1st, 2010 by Tinku | 1 Comment | Filed in Cars

Europe’s major car maker Volkswagen is to launch Volkswagen UP in India in the early 2010 and the most attractive feature of it is that the Volkswagen UP price is likely to be juts Rs. 3 lakhs which would make Volkswagen UP the cheapest Volkswagen car ever. Volkswagen aims at the best and maximum production of it in the coming years to become the best car seller in India. Volkswagen is looking at the emerging markets to boost up its bottom lines and has planed to produce 2, 40,000 vehicles annually in India by 2012. The cheapest price Volkswagen Up was first debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. But Volkswagen Polo will be the first low priced one to be launched in India which will range about Rs. 5 lakhs.

The Rs. 3 lakh Volkswagen Up has all the modern technologies in it because the satisfaction of customer is the satisfaction of the company Volkswagen. The car Up is to seat four adults in full comfort and features a unique flat folding seat system too. The seats of UP fit every body shape since the seats are air inflatable. The extra features of Up include central display, two monitors, an 8 inch monitor which shows the vehicle speed, fuel level and range, as well as your CO2 emissions. The second 7 inch monitor in Volkswagen Up controls the climate in the car, radio volume, music selection, telephone, navigation, photos and movies etc. But the disadvantage is that it will be a two door vehicle which will be quiet difficult to get in and out. On the other hand the four doors UP is also ready in the Volkswagen show case. But the four doors might be bit costlier due to raw material cost and tax. But we can’t hide the fact that the two door Up looks smarter than the four doors Up. The mini Up has a cute look with less length. The longer one of course will offer more comfort.

The Volkswagen Up engine is likely to be a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. The power outputs may range from just 60 to 86 horsepower and it is expected to have a six speed manual and an optional automated gear system too. Though not declared it is to offer a great mileage too as the Indian middle class car buyers will surely look for the fuel efficiency of any vehicle. Though Up is have a fairly simple beam-type rear axle and rear drum brakes and front-disc brakes, ABS, and electric power steering for the standard version for the U.S. car buyers, we will have to wait and see how many of these will be offered to Indian car market.
