Hyundai i10 as we know secured a safe place in the heart of all car lovers in India. The so called smallest petrol hatch back in India is now going repeat the history with the launch of Hyundai i10 Diesel in India soon. Thus, it will be smallest diesel car in India. And the price of Hyundai i10 Diesel will be just between Rs. 5.2 to 6.4 lakhs.

The upcoming i10 Diesel with 1.1 liter diesel engine will surely be a threat to the legend diesel car swift India and the future of the newly launched Fiat Punto and Tata Indica Vista will be out of question. The small cute appearance and great performance has won the mind of all the automotive experts and users in India. The only negative thing they all said was the less fuel efficiency of petrol i10. Now the launch of diesel i10 Hyundai with more mileage will shut the mouths of all the critics of i10. The three cylinder turbocharged engine will generate an output of 75-80 bhp which will provide a better performance on roads in India and abroad. The only aspect that remains unanswered is the pricing of Hyundai i10 Diesel. Though the Hyundai i10 Diesel price is approximately between 5-6 lakhs, they need to fix it between this range and if possible less than this. Of course, it is quiet difficult to do so for a diesel engine as diesel engines are always heavy and so expensive. Any way, the price of Hyundai i10 Diesel India has a lot to with its future in India.

The i10 price is likely to be Rs. 75,000 more than its petrol version which in fact is not very expensive. The petrol i10 you know had all that expected. It is really a small spacious car. The diesel Hyundai i10 is expected to be probably powered by a 1.1-CRDi (Common Rail Direct Injection) with VGT (Variable Geometry turbo) engine that was found successful in Santro and other cars of Hyundai India. The latest i10 in Chennai plant is getting ready lead the Indian roads in a couple of months from now. Hyundai claims a 23 km/litre mileage for i10 diesel and we can be sure that it is a fuel economy car and will hit the Indian automobile market in 2010.

K&N air filters

December 15th, 2009 by Rider | No Comments | Filed in General

The exact function of an air filter is to provide high flow of air with minimum resistance and to filter the air coming in. The filtering is done to protect the machinery from the dirt from the outside world. Sometimes you may have seen racers racing with their air filters open, this is to provide high flow of air. This habit in the long run will ruin the engine. Their air filters are measured in accordance with the testing procedure ISO 5011. The degree of success of this test represents the amount of dust not allowed to enter the engine and it showed an excellent figure of 98%. A paper  air filter work in a go or no go manner that’s why paper filters are so resistive in nature. There are different scientific laws that determine how the dirt particles form the airstream which are interception, impaction and diffusion. In a paper filter the dust particles is mostly found on the surface of the media. But in  K&N air filter we have depth loading, multiple levels of cotton fibers show different degrees of dust retention. The cotton fibers is sandwiched between  pleated aluminum screen which further increases the  surface area .Dust particles caught on the surface of K&N filter have less effect on the air flow comparing to paper filter.

The advantages of using K&N air filters are

  1. Excellent filtration and high air flow.
  2. Washable and reusable
  3. Increase in acceleration horse power and acceleration.(depending if mileage filter or power filter is used)
  4. It will not void warranty
  5. Last up to 50000 km before cleaning.
